App Sync Directions:
Once you’ve been migrated to Gmail, you can continue to use Microsoft Outlook to view your mail. Simply visit the following website to download the Google Apps Sync Tool.
When the website has loaded, click on “Download Google Apps Sync.”
The tool will probably take several seconds to download and install.
Once the tool successfully downloads and installs, click “Close.”
To sign into Google Apps Sync, enter your full email address, INCLUDING @ehc.edu.
When Google Apps asks for permissions to Microsoft Outlook, click “Allow.”
When the next box opens to set up Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook, DO NOT check the box that says “Import Data from an Existing Profile.” Doing so will duplicate all mail in your inbox. WITHOUT checking any boxes, click “Create Profile.”
Once you’ve created your profile, click “Start Microsoft Outlook” to launch Outlook and sync your mail.
- Initial mail sync will take several minutes (possibly even over an hour). You should still be able to use Outlook while this initial sync is taking place. If you prefer, you can use your email through the web during this time. It is important, however, not to close Outlook or let your computer go to sleep during this process. Doing so will interrupt the sync and cause it to take even longer.
That’s really all there is to it!
If you have any issues during this process, please feel free to contact the Help Desk at x.6881, and we will be happy to assist you.
